Ray Wylie Hubbard at the American River Music Festival

About a year and a half ago Rick attended a songwriter workshop in Wimberly, Texas with Ray Wylie Hubbard and Kevin Welch. Rick hadn’t planned on attending but his sweetheart Demona wanted to visit her sister and it was the same weekend. What it did do was inspire Rick to pursue this craziness again.

Ray talked about when he was at a similar crossroad in his life and the things he did to overcome his fears. Rick brought that little bit of wisdom back from Texas and began to write some songs. Ray is holding “New Songs From An Old Place,” the fruit of his generosity.

Rick is grateful to Ray and Kevin and glad to get to know Ray’s wife Judy, their son Lucas, Kevin’s son Dustin (awesome songwriter and banjo player) and his wife Kayla.
